EncourageWordleIn my lifetime, I have been at the nadir of despair –on occasion was not quite sure what to do next – someone called, wrote, or spoke a word of absolute encouragement. It was magical, miraculous and meaningful.

I would imagine you have felt that moment of encouragement.

I think it’s time that I take this opportunity to encourage you.

Of course I encourage you to continue to encourage others – you just never know who needs it today.

A story is told about a banker who always tossed a coin in the cup of a legless beggar who sat on the street outside the bank. But, unlike most people, the banker would always insist on getting one of the pencils the man had beside him. “You are a merchant,” the banker would say, “and I always expect to receive good value from merchants I do business with.” One day the legless man was not on the sidewalk. Time passed and the banker forgot about him, until he walked into a public building and there in the concessions stand sat the former beggar. He was obviously the owner of his own small business now. “I have always hoped you might come by someday,” the man said. “You are largely responsible for me being here. You kept telling me that I was a ’merchant’. I started thinking of myself that way, instead of a beggar receiving gifts. I started selling pencils — lots of them. You gave me self-respect, caused me to look at myself differently.”

Now isn’t that just the greatest story.

Many People often think of encouragement as ordinary, but I am more inclined to think it can be one amazing gift – so valuable.

1. Like a Birthday, Christmas, Anniversary Gift:  It’s free. Encouragement cost the recipient $0 but may at times cost the giver creativity and thoughtfulness; But isn’t that the fun if it all.

2. Unlike many of our gift giving It requires no, nil, zilch shopping. You can email, call or write a card/note of support.

3. Again, unlike other gifts It doesn’t have to be gift bagged/wrapped. It stands alone in its beauty. A Personal custom design -With a little thought you can give the best words of comfort, motivation, or support.

4. And guess what- no ever-ready batteries necessary – Aren’t you just sick of having to remember to get batteries.

Just by example -you encourage a child – I will guarantee -It will last a lifetime. What other gift  could you give a child that will have value for years to come! Encouragement can lead a child, stop a suicide, cause growth, boost self esteem; comfort, console, strengthen.

May you continue to encourage and let it be a way of life.

While I was compiling my thoughts on encouragement, my daughter, Donna was having a very special moment in her life. I had to include it in my blog post. Hopefully it will encourage you as well.

Here is her brief Facebook excerpt of her day:

Helping others breathes life into your soul.

Was at St. Josephs [Hospital]for a bone density test. Was on my way to the elevators when an extremely old man who was partly blind and could barely walk was speaking out loud saying, “help me, I can’t see and I need to find where my appointment is”. I was waiting for the elevator doors to open. (I’m not the best person to ask for directions, not ashamed to vocalize that.. Hehe!) I said I can help guide you. (I’m in a lot of pain today and can barely walk myself) and the man said, “you’re in just as bad as shape as me.” I said, that’s ok, we’ll hold each other up and make sure we get to where we need to be.”

He said, “you’re such a beautiful girl”. I said thank you, I get that every now and then. He said, “no your outer beauty is very obvious, I nearly melted when I saw that smile. It’s what you have so strongly inside of you. I can tell. Do you love Jesus?”. Then of course I cried.. I said, “yes, yes I do, more and more each day He amazes me and I can’t live without Him.”

He said, “don’t worry sweet angel, before you know it you’re pain will be a distant memory. Don’t give up. See how God provided for me today? Your beautiful arms guiding me to safety. “

Ok… Break time.. Wiping the waterfall of tears…. K.. Back

It amazes me daily how God knows everything, and when we need a massive pick me up. Imagine if I allowed my weakness “of not doing well with directions” hold me back, I would have missed this blessing today. I really wanted to get out of there. (The pain in my body was awful).. But I did it anyway. It’s always best to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit.

The man promised to pray for me and I promised to pray for him. GOD ROCKS!!!!

May you have a beautiful and encouraging day!

Thanks for coming back to read my blog!

I am truly honored.
