ATTITUDE

With the help of Wikipedia:
An attitude is a favorable or an unfavorable evaluation of something. Attitudes are generally positive or negative views of a person, place, thing, or event— this is often referred to as the attitude object. People can also be conflicted or ambivalent toward an object, meaning that they simultaneously possess both positive and negative attitudes toward the item in question.

What we think is as important as what we do

Not only are words and action important by law, relational, emotional etc, but so are y/our thoughts. We are taught that holding a grudge or wishing someone harm is just as bad as hurting them. This is because what we think inspires what we do. Negative self-talk can have devastating effects on y/our selfesteem as well.

Matthew another cool guy, made a very important point – But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the person. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

Clearly y/our attitude is much deeper than just a few thoughts you might think or not think. Your attitude comes out of the core of your being. Y/our attitude represents y/our disposition, y/our outlook, y/our very character.  So I gues we better make sure that what is in y/our heart are good things hey.

Attitude

We can choose what attitude we will embrace for today.

I recently met a 78 year old man who was quite upset about a decision made by government that affected him. It wasn’t long before he ranted and raved about his hatred for different ethnic peoples using threats and words of violence and potential death threats. Suffice it to say I was perturbed, appalled by such blatant display of hatred. My mind was reeling from the exposure of hatred. It took some time for to become calm again and detox my mind and turn towards a more positive attitude.

Some people think that the whole world stinks. Once a cranky grandpa laid down to take a nap. To have a little fun, his grandson put some limburger cheese on his mustache, right under his nose. Grandpa awoke with a snort, staggered out of the bedroom and shouted, “This room stinks!” On through the house he went, shouting louder, “This whole house stinks!” He charged out on the porch and shouted as loud as he could, “The whole world stinks!” The truth is, it was grandpa who stunk. The problem was right under his own nose.
“We are a culture that relies on technology over community, a society in which spoken and written words are cheap, easy to come by, and excessive. Our culture says anything goes; fear of God is almost unheard of. We are slow to listen, quick to speak, and quick to become angry.”
— Francis Chan (Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God)

With that quote in mind; attitude and subsequent actions are so very important.

Positive and Grateful attitude can determine how you live your life.

A Proverb “For as a man thinks in his heart, so he is…”
What a difference your attitude makes! Your attitude affects every relationship in your life. And sometimes relationships will never get started in the first place — because many times your attitude has built up walls… making it difficult for people to be around you.

Tips to a Good Attitude!

• Be calm – Meditate/ calm your thoughts
• Believe the best about everyone
• Be a-Warm-Smiling -Smile
• Be thankful
• Be happy – think happy thoughts
• Be Kind – Don’t Gossip
• Be Positive – any old fish can be negative. Helps self esteem

Is it possible that attitude can:
• MAKE OR BREAK YOU
• HEAL OR HURT YOU
• MAKE YOU FRIENDS OR MAKE YOU ENEMIES
• MAKE YOU HAPPY OR MAKE YOU MISERABLE
• MAKE YOU A SUCCESS OR MAKE YOU A FAILURE

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.

Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude… I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.

And so it is with you/I… we are in charge of our attitudes.

Another Story

The story is told of a wonderful, elderly lady. She had very little money and lived in a rundown house, but she was always praising the God. Her only problem was with the old man who lived next door. He was always trying to prove to her that there was no God. One day, as the old man was walking by her house, he noticed the woman through an open window. She was kneeling down in prayer, so he crept over to the window to see if he could hear. She was praying, ” God, you’ve always given me what I’ve needed.” She prayed. “And now you know that I don’t have any money, and I’m completely out of groceries, and I won’t get another check for a week.” She continued, “somehow, Lord, can you get me some groceries.” The man had heard all he needed. He crept away from the window and ran down to the grocery store. He bought milk, bread, and lunch meat. He ran back to the woman’s house carrying the groceries. He set the bag down on by her door, rang the doorbell, and hid beside of the house. You can imagine how the woman reacted to seeing the bag of groceries. She threw her hands over head and began praising God.  “Thank you,” she shouted. “I was without food and you provided the groceries.” About that time the old man jumped out and said, “I’ve got you now.” She was too busy shouting thank yous to pay any attention. “I told you there was no God,” the old man said, ” it wasn’t God who gave you those groceries it was me.” “Oh no,” the woman said. “God got me these goroceries and made the devil pay for them.” She had the right attitude for God albeit a little strange toward her neighbor.

That’s what friends are for – it may sound too idyllic…but we should aspire to be good friends..that is a part of a good attitude.

Song “That’s What Freinds for Sure”

Alexander Tsiaras: Conception to birth — visualized

As much as you think you are alone so often; I beg to differ!

*

I have a Maker
He formed my heart
Before even time began
My life was in his hands

I have a Father
He calls me His own
He’ll never leave me
No matter where I go

He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And He hears me when I call
*

*
Who taught the sun where to stand in the morning
Who told the ocean you an only come this far?
Who showed the moon where to hide ’til evening
Whose words alone can catch a falling star?

Well I know my Redeemer lives
I know my Redeemer lives
All of creation testify
This life within me cries
I know my Redeemer lives

The very same God that spins things in orbit
He runs to the weary, the worn and the weak
And the same gentle hands that hold me when I’m broken
They conquered death to bring me victory

Now I know my Redeemer lives
I know my Redemer lives
Let all creation testify
Let this life wihtin me cry
I know my Redeemer, He lives

To take away my shame
And He lives forever I’ll proclaim
That the payment for my sin
Was the precious life He gave
But now He’s alive
And there’s an empty grave.

And I know my Redeemer, He lives
I know my Redeemer lives
Let all creation testify
This life within me cries
I know my Redeemer lives

R is for Rhubarb and Respect

Rhubarb are perennials growing from short, thick root. They have large leaves that are somewhat triangular, with long fleshy stem. They have small flowers grouped in large compound leafy greenish-white to rose-red inflorescences [group or cluster of flowers].

Rhubarb is usually considered to be a vegetable; however some people consider it a fruit.

rhubarb

Rhubarb is a source of calcium, Vitamin C, and potassium.

One cup (250 mL) raw, diced has 27 calories.

Rhubarb also contains glycosides especially rhein, glucorhein and emodin which impart cathartic and laxative activities to it. It is hence useful as a cathartic in case of constipation.

Rhubarb is ready to be consumed as soon as it is harvested, and freshly cut stalks will be firm and glossy.

Rhubarb will grow year-round in warm climates, but in temperate climates, the above ground portion of the plant completely withers away at the onset of freezing temperature; the plant grows from the root at the return of warm weather.

The colour of rhubarb stalks can vary from the commonly associated crimson red, through speckled light pink, to simply light green. Rhubarb stalks are poetically described as “crimson stalks”.!

Rhubarb made a delightful jam and dessert dish.

As a kid it was common that many neighbors had rhubarb growing in their garden. As well it was out of respect and kindness that one would share their rhubarb with their neighbors.

Respect that’s a good attribute to have.

Respect gives a positive feeling of esteem or deference for a person or other entity (such as a nation or a religion), and also specific actions and conduct representative of that esteem. Respect can be a specific feeling of regard for the actual qualities of the one respected. Wikipedia

In practical terms what is respect?

  • A feeling of appreciative, often deferential regard; esteem
  • The state of being regarded with honor or esteem
  • Willingness to show consideration or appreciation
  • Respects, Polite expressions of consideration or admiration

How we treat one another with RESPECT is so important.

  • No matter how difficult an older person is, we need to treat them with respect- There’s so much we can learn from the older generation
  • Young people should also RESPECT the older generation – you can learn much as well
  • We need to treat women with respect
  • Men if you can’t respect a woman or women in general then I would guess you have a lot of growing up to do
  • Women if you see single parents or woman in need help look after women -women know women
  • Women I think it isn’t necessary to brow beat men the pendulum swings both ways.
  • Men don’t allow the many men who have failed their woman, children and society to go unnoticed and leave only a negative impact – continue a respectful and honorable example
  • Lack of respect is an epidemic in our society
  • Respect goes beyond admiration you need to put it into practice

Practical Advice for Teaching and Requiring Our Children to Respect Other People

  • Talk the talk
  • Walk the walk
  • Speak respect
  • Train children intentionally about respect
  • Respect others as you would have others respect you – be the example
  • Don’t give up
  • Respect is an attitude first
  • Respect helps children succeed in life

If children don’t have respect for themselves, peers, or authority, it’s almost impossible for them to succeed.

Children Learn What They Live

If children live with criticism, they learn to condemn.
If children live with hostility, they learn to fight.
If children live with fear, they learn to be apprehensive.
If children live with pity, they learn to feel sorry for themselves.

If children live with ridicule, they learn to feel shy.
If children live with jealousy, they learn to feel envy.
If children live with shame, they learn to feel guilty.
If children live with encouragement, they learn confidence.

If children live with tolerance, they learn patience.
If children live with praise, they learn appreciation.
If children live with acceptance, they learn to love.
If children live with approval, they learn to like themselves.

If children live with recognition, they learn it is good to have a goal.
If children live with sharing, they learn generosity.
If children live with honesty, they learn truthfulness.
If children live with fairness, they learn justice.

If children live with kindness and consideration, they learn respect.
If children live with security, they learn to have faith in themselves and in those about them.
If children live with friendliness, they learn the world is a nice place in which to live.

Quotes I am pondering today!

“Only those who respect the personality of others can be of real use to them” – Albert Schweitzer

“The capacity for getting along with our neighbor depends to a large extent on the capacity for getting along with ourselves. The self-respecting individual will try to be as tolerant of his neighbor’s shortcomings as he is of his own.” – Eric Hoffer

“They cannot take away our self-respect if we do not give it to them.” – Mohandas K. Gand

L is for Lettuce and Love!

Lettuce is an annual plant of the aster or sunflower family.  It is most often grown as a leaf vegetable.

lettuce

As you know Lettuce is most often used for salads, sandwiches and wraps. Lettuce is a good source of vitamin A and potassium, as well as a minor source for several other vitamins and nutrients. Some people will use Lettuce to help curb munchies by eating extra lettuce while on a diet plan.  Not quite sure if that’s a good idea but I’m sure it won’t hurt to eat extra lettuce.

As a child we often used lettuce to feed the rabbits.

As an adult I more than appreciate Lettuce; I Love Lettuce. My favorites are Iceberg and Romaine.

‘Love’ a many splendored word!!!!!!!

To live a life in Love Should not be rare.

Here is a poem with my take on love actually it’s my perspective from abuse to seeing onself through the eyes of God and self acceptance with a stronger ability to love.

love
is who i am
born to love
to give
born to live
in glory, honor
esteem and vitality,
fearfully
and wonderfully
made am i
this is the
portabellow of love

but then the giver
of earthly life
started with you
in love,
slowly
tainted the vision
of love i knew
became
sum of all tears

realization
true love and fragrance
of acceptance
nutured by god above
giver of purest love,
identity
not based on
your neglect
but on the giver
of life in me
select not
entrust my identity
with you
but creator
has made me perfect
to sit in heavenly places,

essence
with a grateful heart
I am secure
love who i am
now I can
love
you…

Love

Keep Loving!

Quotes I am pondering Today!

The hunger for love is much more difficult to remove than the hunger for bread.

– Mother Teresa

Though our feelings come and go, God’s love for us does not.

– C. S. Lewis

My heart is, and always will be, yours. – Sense and Sensibility

LOVE

What is love?  The short list.

  • emotion
  • affection
  • affirmation
  • virtue representing human kindness, compassion
  • actions toward others
  • compassionate
  • consideration
  • communication
  • forgiveness
  • gateway
  • gracious
  • sacrifice
  • honor
  • laughter
  • pay it forward
  • personal attachment
  • present- in the moment
  • respect
  • sexual
  • not envious
  • not abusive
  • not angry
  • not selfish
  • not hurtful
  • not compromising

Here are a few quotes highlighting love:

Jonathan Edwards said, “Love is the sum of all virtue, and love disposes us to good.”

Mother Teresa said, “The hunger for love is much more difficult to remove than the hunger for bread.”

“If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered.” – Proverbs

The strength of love is shown in great things; the tenderness of love in little things.”  Robert C. Chapman

Today I want to be  a prompt and a reminder that love and appreciation is very important. It is true our feelings come and go and we oft’ become disoriented in life. Anytime we are side tracked we can find our way back by looking at the perfect example of God’s love.  He invented love.

Like a lot of other things, love can be enjoyed or abused. Casual or appreciated. Genuine love is an unconditional, sacrificial, kind, caring, faithful, expressive, mature, compassionate, respectful, lifelong commitment. If we say we are Christian and do not love then we do not know truth but have become a liar.

Love is not supposed to be painful. A lot of people misrepresent the Bible and say we have to be obedient to husbands at any cost. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that. Peter did say that wives should respect the authority of their husbands in order to promote harmony within the family; as well as to submit to one another in mutual respect. What the Bible is not suggesting is for wives to become doormats nor feel inferior. If you are an abusive person, please seek help now. Don’t wait until you’ve made a terrible mistake that you will never be able to correct. If you are being abused, please talk to someone you can trust, whether it be a family member, a counselor, a friend, a pastor, a teacher or a doctor. Don’t delay.

Love should be at the forefront of everything that you and I do. Without love, our speaking and doing is noise! Let’s focus on kindness and goodness .

I encourage you to work on your relationships. My prayer for you is a complete, safe and happy relationship.

This week take time to read the entire book of the Song of Solomon.[check the end of this blog to direct you the site] The focus of Song of Solomon/Songs is not progeny but of passion. “Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth—for your love is more delightful than wine.”

Do you still get the butterflies when you think of your love? Romantic and sexual  love is an incredible gift from God so don’t give it to just anyone and it will be a wonderful, worthwhile adventure.

You are free to believe as you wish but for me I follow God’s word, the Bible. God wants us to be blessed in love within the context of the marriage. I believe God wants to us to wait for marriage to express sexual love.

At an early age; I envisioned being in a marriage relationship, where there is no shame or bashfulness. You can express every physical desire and have a deep, expressive, loving, wonderful relationship. Ahh  here you can share your hearts, your dreams, your goals, your strengths, your weaknesses, your present, your futures, and your bodies together and without shame!

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. [Romans 12:1-2]

I hope you make time to have a love relationship with your partner, family and with God.

His Rose

A rose
Pink yellow white red or blue
Reminds me of you
Gently takes the thorn
From my skin
Silk and scent
Takes me to the place
Where we spent
Love’s first passionate kiss
Perfection
Is your silhouette
My love is greater
Than ten thousand red
Not a blast of hurry
Stayed on love and bliss
Set free
Unending love forever mine
Like the petals fold
My heart in thankful prayer
Inhale again aroma sweet
Your beauty smile and living
In celebration
Nothing says
I love you
Like His single rose of June
