**

We know that we ought to be thankful for the good things and use the not so great things to teach us to count our blessings.

touching-hands

One of the greatest blessing in our lives is to love and know love.

It is far too easy to camouflage the very people we love that make life worthwhile, with the business and busyness of life.

Tis the Season-
It’s Christmas, it’s a miracle, it’s love, it’s a gift –
To fall in love is a precious gift, a miracle.

Would you like to fall in love all over again?

To fall in love all over again brings tears to my heart and rain to my eyes.

Would you like to fall in love again this Christmas season?

To look into the eyes of creator God afresh and see the miracles of his love for you. To once again have hope because of the Man whose birth we celebrate on Christmas Day. To fall in love with the creator not just his creation.

To look into the eyes of your spouse as once you did and caused that head over heels butterfly feeling. The commitment in your heart of your youth to never take him/her for granted.

As a youth or young adult in love it is so natural to want to explore, to touch, to feel that warm body of another human being. To immerse in that sensual electrifying experience. The desire to be in love came so naturally; could that happen again?

I believe that one of the biggest reasons that people are miserable especially at Christmas is because they refuse to let go of the hurts, disappointment, and offenses of others. They justify their pain and keep themselves and others locked in a prison of unforgiveness. Believe me It isn’t easy making the choice to forgive But living with unforgiveness can be deadly! There is a great need to forgive.

A need to rekindle, refresh, fan the flame of love.

To make a date every day. Re-establish connection with your life-companion the forever friendship. There’s a good man in there- there’s a good woman in there.
In sickness and in health. To be captivated once again.

To look into the eyes of your now grown child/ren and remember the naivety of that new mom feeling. To remember your heart swell with love for the little one. The smell, the touch of his/her silky newborn skin of this little human who needs you every second of every day. The promise you made to nurture and keep them safe all wrapped in the warmth of your love. To disrespect or allow harm near your child would be unthinkable. Remember – you would never let anyone or anything interfere with that sweet baby smile. Honor your children.

As we fall in love with God, spouse and child remember those who suffer. For those who are ill, forgotten, lonely; for those who are homeless and are huddled on dark winter nights in the unseen corners of cities all over the world.

Don’t let this season be the greatest regret of your life.
Let it be the greatest love’s rebirth of your Existence. Let it bring you back to life.
To feel, to touch, to hug, to forgive, to kiss, to recommit, bringing joy thought lost.

No it doesn’t have to be a fairy tale but true life.

Thanks for reading my blog!

Merry Christmas

It’s been a difficult few weeks..No signs of drastic improvement but there is change so for that I am most grateful.  This lull that I have felt has pulled me in once again with reflection.

What is it I really need in this life?

Whom shall I talk to to unload this burden?

Where shall I run for solace?

Where shall I Run

*

Where should I run?

In that moment

of encumbrance

when faith would wane

grapple with grace

and wonderment

i want to run away,

where too should i run?

i shall run to you

to silence

near the fountain of all being

at the fane

where wizards of wonderment

and wisdom are free

grand graces grow

transfigured

by a-mazing voyage

i run to the centre

of who i am –

A man named Paul; a very bright man said some very interesting words to ponder.

Go ahead dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you:

  • compassion
  • kindness
  • humility
  • quiet strength
  • discipline
  • even-tempered
  • content with second place
  • quick to forgive an offense
  • wear love

It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it. Isn’t that most descriptive and inviting and worthy to action.

*
Let the peace of God keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. And cultivate thankfulness. Let the words giving take the lead. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Creator thanking God every step of the way.
Let the peace of God rule… Peace on earth goodwill toward man!

My interpretation of 4 important words:
Peacekeeping – suggests dealing with conflict like many of our soldiers have been deployed to do.
Peacemaking – spiritual experience and daily requirement.

Thankful – acknowledge, expression.
Gratitude – deeper declaration, motivator and for me require God ‘s help.

A grateful heart should lead to peace. We are to be people of peace.

I believe God is able to help us in our humanity. Allow your grateful heart release peace in y/our daily lives.

The peace of God with understanding will guard your heart and mind.

It’s funny with the center and the core of who we are is at peace how we respond to turmoil and confusion from without. Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when the creator it displaces worry at the center of your life.

Christmas spirit is actually related to the birth of Christ born to exemplify and give peace.
Inward Christmas Peace is necessary to release to others.

The world and many individuals are facing loneliness and stormy days, traumatic events needing peace.    Needing calm.
We need peace but we also need to be so enriched with loving peace that we can give it away daily.

To aid in peace we have to have a more complete thought life. We already think about the things that hurt, negative. We need to add to our thoughts.

Eloquent Paul had more provoking, astonishing, timeless yet encouraging things to say. Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.

Day 29 of my 30 Day Thankfulness Challenge; I am thankful for the essence of Family.  😀

Family for me; includes parents, brothers and sisters, caregivers, extended family of my spouse, sons-in law’s and daughter-in law’s family, people I have met that are now a part of my family, people from different churches, even pets, and people from the most unusual places such as Facebook.  For friends that have stayed faithful  to me through many years are all really family. For others there are blended families and many more complexities form families.

The key to any family is to love lavishly. Care cuddles, provide safety and comfort for each member. Kids thirst for parental acceptance — they long for their mother and father to reinforce their worth. Parental priority is to purpose in guiding each child’s emotional life.

If a parent fails here and reinforce a dysfunctional family by any type of abuse or trauma or neglect or suppression that child’s life is changed forever.

Being parents or leaders of a family is God-given with an important duty to meet a child’s need for affirmation. First and foremost is to pour blessing not cursing upon your child.

God has given mother and father but especially mothers the loving, nurturing quality that care for our children – feeding them, dressing them, changing diaper after diaper, it is God who gives them breath so we are not in this alone. God knows the number of hairs on their head and the days of their life.

As I ponder the life of children I am amazed once more by the awesome power of God to give life. I cannot begin to imagine that there is another out there that could love my children, grandchildren more than me except God.  I am comforted on many occasions knowing That God hold them and me in the creator’s hands.

A very important part of the family is forgiveness.  We all need forgiveness at different times.  Some have to forgive normal ordinary things others have to forgive abuse or crime or addiction.

Forgiveness is letting it go, to release.  With all one’s heart/wholeheartedly, freely granting freedom and blessing. Mind you it has little to do with feelings or trust.  It is a decision to let it go, let go of disappointments, let go of hurts and pain, let go of regrets or what we view as justice or what is right.

In abusive relationships the dynamics and healing process is critical.

Lily Tomlin said: To forgive is to give up all hope for a better past.

“There comes a critical time in each person’s life when the truth is accessible. Faced with it, you can either run and hide, denying it, or you can face your truth, accept it, and grow stronger,” wrote Gregory Jantz in Healing the Scars of Emotional Abuse.

“While the optimum situation is for both parties in an abusive situation to seek help, Dr. Tim Clinton, President of the American Association of Counselors, insists one person can change the relationship.

“Change a person; change a relationship,” he says.

Dr. Tim Clinton says that “with professional help—and by following some basic principles you can break the cycle of abuse in your life and begin your healing journey”

I know I have oversimplified 6 of his suggestions but you get the drift.

  • Truth and disclosure is the first step
  • Seek professional help and guidance
  • Set appropriate boundaries
  • Find and maintain healthy relationships by surrounding yourself with a group of people that will support you
  • Do what you can and trust God for added strength
  • Forgiveness is not denying but opens door to healing

In Any Family – Love, respect, kindness, warmth, fun, challenge, learning and affection are some important ingredients in the family. If we’re going to grow and mature in spirit, then we’ve got to grow in love.

Stages of Family

The family is like a human body everyone needs each other, and everyone helps another.

I really want a family atmosphere that will be a center of love, created in such a way that any hurts, brokenness, worry or fear is healed and God is seen always. Plenty of hugs, kindness, tears and laughter given freely.

Pertinent Quotes:

“This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”

“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love”

Love is a decision, it is a judgment, it is a promise. If love were only a feeling, there would be no basis for the promise to love each other forever. A feeling comes and it may go. How can I judge that it will stay forever, when my act does not involve judgment and decision.”   ― Erich Fromm, The Art of Loving

When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice. – Cherokee

Psalmist said, Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me.

Continually forgive others. Forgive AT ONCE, not one second later, not one half second later, because if you hesitate to forgive, jealousy comes in the door, than hatred and envy. Forgive instantly as Christ forgives instantly.  Gerontissa Makrina

“When love, acceptance and forgiveness prevail, the church becomes what Jesus was in the world: a center of love, designed for the healing of broken people, and a force for God… One of the greatest services a church can offer a community is to provide a place for people to be brought to wholeness – to be healed physically, spiritually and emotionally… People are fragmented. They are torn. Life doesn’t work for them because they are without Jesus… They need a place to be healed.” (Jerry Cook).

Charity begins at home, but should not end there.  Thomas Fuller

Day 8 of my recent 30 Day Thankfulness Challenge; I am thankful for my # 2 Son-in-Law.

#2 Son-in-Law also loves XBoxy type stuff that blows my mind but hey we can’t be all alike.  I am told you must be smart and analytical to play those video games.

He is the sweetest, kindest, generous, qualities of sensitivity to women.  He loves to unload the dishwasher and fill the washer [front loaders are great].  Now he hasn’t mastered the heart of putting the folded clothes away but being so helpful is an amazing quality.

He is very intelligent and is an IT genius.

He loves the outdoors and fell in love with my beloved Newfoundland.

He is a fabulous daddy and loves my baby #3 daughter. Together they gave me grandbaby #3.

Being such an athletic person he gravitated to Dodgeball; he’s in a Dodgeball league; of course he loves Florida and the swimming pool; who wouldn’t. Naturally he is a golfer another love of our family.

He is learning the art of being a great lover of God and family.  I see how God is molding him and see the changes every day for without change for the better we would become stale and without growth.

Pertinent quotes:

Each day of our lives we make deposits in the memory banks of our children. ~ Charles (Chuck) Swindoll

“Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” (NIV)   Ephesians 5:1-2

“Your talent is God’s gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God.” (Leo Buscaglia)

Day 7 of my previous 30 Day Thankfulness Challenge; I am thankful for my # 1 Son-in-Law.

Petite in stature but big in heart.  Travelled a dark road with my #1 daughter but am so very proud of his accomplishments during his spiritual metamorphic change.  Through the changes I see God working in his life.

Setting your path on a willingness to grow and learn and change are some of the most important qualities.  He is gaining them in abundance.

#1 son-in-law is an IT genius. He is also a genius in the studio and I am constantly amazed at his ability to work his magic and as a DJ in his free time.

Musical ability flows from his hands to the drums is sweet to watch. Imagine a drummer in the family. Actually he can also play guitar.  Music is a large part of his life and is now doing more work on his vocals.

I must say I am impressed to see him face physical maintenance problems and tries to learn how to fix things on a regular basis. If he keeps this up he is gonna be “Mr. Fix It”  As well is so helpful to # 1 daughter especially during her sickness. Together they work hard at avoiding food allergies.

He is extremely generous of his time to teach his little neices and nephews the ability to master iPad apps. #1 son-in-law loves xboxy type stuff.  #1 son-in-law is his name and electronics is his game.
