J is for Jam and Joyful!

Fruit preserves are preparations of fruits, vegetables and sugar, often canned or sealed for long-term storage. The preparation of fruit preserves today often involves adding commercial or natural pectin as a gelling agent, although sugar or honey may be used.

Putting Jam on bread or biscuit is simply delicious. Jam adds a Joyful Delight to an ordinary mundane cracker or croissant.

I like that word Joyful.

Feeling, causing, or indicating joy. Glad!

When was the last time you laughed and was happy and warm fuzzies just for the sheer joyfulness of life and living?

Try laughing out loud even if you don’t feel like it.  Smile even if you don’t feel like it…Something triggers our innermost self.

Joy is untouched by circumstance

We don’t live in a stress-free, trouble-free world; so we should learn to live it with joy.  Joy is an internal constant.  So if it’s not there then you have to rethink your heart.  Our viewpoint, perspective is very important and a direct link to that internal place of joy.

Internal JOY says; you meant it for evil but God meant it for Good.  IN other words this day is the pits but I am thankful and Joyful because I am living this day no matter what. All things will work out for the good in the end.

God is my center, innermost being that stirs a delight in my existence to life.

The psalmist encourages to “Delight yourself in the Lord and God will give you the desires of your heart.”

Once we have allowed ourselves the time and practice of a calmer joyful self there is little room for meltdowns and frazzled feelings. Once we realize that life doesn’t have to be perfect to be joyful and even happy.

I must confess the central source of my joy comes from God.  There are many who do not believe in a greater power and that is certainly their choice. However for me God gives me a center, balance and harmony. The joy of the Lord is my strength. That joyful inner strength cannot be accessed if I always want more and more but is accessed when I am gracious and tolerant and kind.

Please be encouraged. That internal joy helps us see the important things today. See the big picture.

Have you ever had moments when your spirit is frustrated or upset and not sure why?  I have and I have had to take a moment and think why?  Then I remember oOoOh it was that lapse in judgement or that moment I got angry, or that moment I was worried or that negative thought or that was selfish!  The negative overshadowed.

I realize that there are many who suffer from depression and their day is most excruciating.  They find it hard to find their balance, their central joy.  Be assured of God’s love for you and God is touched and aware of feelings of y/our infirmities. Through my darkest hours I have encouraged myself by saying;  I can do all things through God who strengthens me.  If you are at a place of acute depression my prayer is you will find a caring professional help.

You or I can do things during these depressing times by making large projects or tasks into smaller segments thereby more manageable. Don’t stay in bed too long; change things up. Don’t expect too much from yourself doing the worst moments.
Though you may feel like you are being pulled under the shadow of despair find ways to resist lethargy, procrastination, obsession, negativity and the pull of violence.  Keep working, moving forward. Every step of movement will actually help you.
Fight to maintain positive thoughts. Keep working on making joy your goal.  Appreciate the little things.

If you are interested in understanding, a starting point of depression, here is a great book entitled Undoing Depression here is the site:

There is a Proverb that says Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flows the springs of life.

I encourage you and myself to supporting those who suffer from despair, depression and disappointment.  We all need Love; We all need Joy; We all need Hugs; We all need Acceptance; We all need Respect!  In giving love, joy, hugs, acceptance and respect; You guessed it we reap more JOY!

I declare; I’m not lettin anybody/anything steal my joy.

There is something about a child, innocence and an innate virtue of joyfulness.

Q. How do you make seven an even number?

A. Take the s out!

Joyful springs to mind a movie Sister Act 2.

I love watching the movie starring Whoopi Goldberg] wtih Laurn HIll  singing with the choir an oldie but a goodie written “Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee” is a poem written by Henry van Dyke in 1907 with the intention of musically setting it to the famous “Ode to Joy” melody of the final movement of Ludwig van Beethoven‘s final symphony, Symphony No. 9.

Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee, God of glory, Lord of love;
Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee, opening to the sun above.
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness; drive the dark of doubt away;
Giver of immortal gladness, fill us with the light of day!

All Thy works with joy surround Thee, earth and heaven reflect Thy rays,
Stars and angels sing around Thee, center of unbroken praise.
Field and forest, vale and mountain, flowery meadow, flashing sea,
Singing bird and flowing fountain call us to rejoice in Thee.

Thou art giving and forgiving, ever blessing, ever blessed,
Wellspring of the joy of living, ocean depth of happy rest!
Thou our Father, Christ our Brother, all who live in love are Thine;
Teach us how to love each other, lift us to the joy divine.

Mortals, join the happy chorus, which the morning stars began;
Father love is reigning o’er us, brother love binds man to man.
Ever singing, march we onward, victors in the midst of strife,
Joyful music leads us Sunward in the triumph song of life.
