Have you ever come against a brick wall or felt that every good deed or action came to naught. Or maybe you felt discouraged by society and the destruction seems to be on the rise.

Is it just me or do you often think that there is a kinda madness sweeping o’er the world? If we just look at society in general we would only see the violent, selfish, injustice, flawed social policies, overall irrational behaviour.

The day to day news is filled with negative while the rich get richer and the poor seem to get poorer. Mankind appears to have digressed instead of maturing. Murders, debt, pollution, madness, greed, robbery, bitterness, fear on every corner.

Periodically I get overwhelmed with it all and I admit a little fed-up.

I guess ultimately we each are responsible to make sure we are grounded and not get caught up in the madness cyclonic effect. To tend to the inner spiritual self and nurture ourselves to strength.

For God’s sake, yourself, your kids, your friends and the world; Be kind, treat all living things with compassion, remember that honesty is still the best policy in spite off and the very least will make you a teeny tiny wee bit happy for not lying.

I try to maintain a positive thought pattern, a positive outlook, a positive word.  So to that end I will say after the pity party let’s pick up y/our positive cloak and put it back on. Stand out from the crowd and if we have to, start a minority of good thoughts, good living, good graces. 😀

Inconvenient time

It’s an inconvenient time.

Here are some of my Ramblings.

More specifically Not convenient, not accessible; hard to reach, not suited to one’s comfort, purpose, or needs, inopportune time.
It’s 2 am and finally you fell asleep after a horrific day, the baby awakes oops throwing up and is sick. You don’t say this is not a good time but mommy/daddy mode – kicks in as a nurse/doctor/loving parent. You do what you have to do to make your child comfortable and complete steps to his/her complete wellness including lots of love and tenderness.
Be there even if it messes up your day!

Be kind whenever possible and the trick is it is always possible.

If you want contentment and happiness; try kindness and a helping hand.
I agree it is an inconvenient day in which we live, especially with so much evil, wrong, sickness, violence in the wake. Compassion often fails us and maybe just maybe we want to shut the door on it all and pretend it’s just us and no one needs us.

Sadly for some the time that someone needs you is at an inconvenient time. 

However the more we allow our hearts to be generous and giving there is never an inconvenient time.

Life and death could be in someone’s path today; family issues, traumas or just plain bad days. So let’s make someone’s day better.

My new motto: leave a room better than when you entered.  LEAVE a person’s life better than when you entered it.

The Mystery of the Mop

Everyone at the State University knew that Donner Hall had the best parties. All-night dancing and beer guzzling attracted the largest weekend crowds by far – especially on the notorious second floor.

By midnight every Friday and Saturday, the entire second floor was three inches deep in smashed beer cans, empty wine bottles, and stale potato chips.

But by about 7:00 a.m. the next morning, all of the garbage was removed.
The second floor residents assumed the conscientious school janitors came bright and early, before anyone woke up, to sweep up the mess.

Early one Saturday morning, Chris, still hung over from Friday night’s party, stumbled out of his bed to head for the bathroom.

Noticing a freshly vacuumed second floor, he mumbled to himself, “I guess the janitors came early again to get rid of the mess.”

On reaching the bathroom, however, his nose warned him the mess wasn’t completely eliminated.

A trail of vomit soiled the bathroom floor, ending at the point where someone was just then mopping it up.

Chris thought to himself, I’m glad the janitor is doing the dirty work so we don’t have to.

At the sound of Chris’s shuffling, the supposed janitor looked up.
Shocked, Chris realized the person mopping up the vomit was Marco, his next-door neighbor.

“Marco, man, what are you doing?” Chris asked.
Marco answered simply, “I’m cleaning up.”
“Why?” You weren’t even at the party last night.”
“Because I’m a Christian.”

No janitor had ever cared enough to clean up every Monday morning.
It had been Marco the whole time.

In what ways have you shown yourself to be willing to serve others—Even when it’s inconvenient?

Serving isn’t about what you get out of it, whether you’re looking to be entertained, or have a fun time. It’s simply putting yourself in the place of other’s thoughts and situations even if it’s inconvenient.

THIS week my daughter’s dad passed away so she is going with her Husband [my son] to Newfoundland to attend the funeral and help with the necessities that follow such an event.  There will be times of joy and sorrow.  A most wonderful man whom we adore.  The only thing that we can do [ my husband and I ] is to look after their two children [ our precious grand children ] while they are away.  For us it is a privilege to care for them.  For some that would be an inconvenience but for us it is a convenient privilege.  Many times it is a matter of attitude and how you approach a situation.

At times, it’s an inconvenience for us to go out of our way to help someone that has either hurt us or that we don’t especially like when we know of something that can benefit them instead of us.

We get ticked off at the circumstance we’re in at the moment, and our attitude prevents us from seeing God’s magnitude.

I think each of you have such amazing qualities keep sharing them.

Your day, your life is faced with trauma or just a bundle of getting nowhere fast.  Someone calls or meets you.  Maybe they need you in some way. The time is now!  You are faced with a situation, a dilemma, a choice, if you answer the call.  Is it possible you could change the fate of an individual; their life, their choices, their attitude,  their commitment, their love. Maybe this inconvenient time isn’t so inconvenient after all.  The creator ordained it.

Prayer in action is love, and love in action is service. Try to give unconditionally whatever a person needs in the moment. The point is to do something, however small, and show you care through your actions by giving your time … We are all God’s children so it is important to share His gifts. R is for Rhubarb and Respect

Rhubarb are perennials growing from short, thick root. They have large leaves that are somewhat triangular, with long fleshy stem. They have small flowers grouped in large compound leafy greenish-white to rose-red inflorescences [group or cluster of flowers].

Rhubarb is usually considered to be a vegetable; however some people consider it a fruit.

Rhubarb is a source of calcium, Vitamin C, and potassium.

One cup (250 mL) raw, diced has 27 calories.

Rhubarb also contains glycosides especially rhein, glucorhein and emodin which impart cathartic and laxative activities to it. It is hence useful as a cathartic in case of constipation.

Rhubarb is ready to be consumed as soon as it is harvested, and freshly cut stalks will be firm and glossy.

Rhubarb will grow year-round in warm climates, but in temperate climates, the above ground portion of the plant completely withers away at the onset of freezing temperature; the plant grows from the root at the return of warm weather.

The colour of rhubarb stalks can vary from the commonly associated crimson red, through speckled light pink, to simply light green. Rhubarb stalks are poetically described as “crimson stalks”.!

Rhubarb made a delightful jam and dessert dish.

As a kid it was common that many neighbors had rhubarb growing in their garden. As well it was out of respect and kindness that one would share their rhubarb with their neighbors.

Respect that’s a good attribute to have.

Respect gives a positive feeling of esteem or deference for a person or other entity (such as a nation or a religion), and also specific actions and conduct representative of that esteem. Respect can be a specific feeling of regard for the actual qualities of the one respected. Wikipedia

In practical terms what is respect?

  • A feeling of appreciative, often deferential regard; esteem
  • The state of being regarded with honor or esteem
  • Willingness to show consideration or appreciation
  • Respects, Polite expressions of consideration or admiration

How we treat one another with RESPECT is so important.

  • No matter how difficult an older person is, we need to treat them with respect- There’s so much we can learn from the older generation
  • Young people should also RESPECT the older generation – you can learn much as well
  • We need to treat women with respect
  • Men if you can’t respect a woman or women in general then I would guess you have a lot of growing up to do
  • Women if you see single parents or woman in need help look after women -women know women
  • Women I think it isn’t necessary to brow beat men the pendulum swings both ways.
  • Men don’t allow the many men who have failed their woman, children and society to go unnoticed and leave only a negative impact – continue a respectful and honorable example
  • Lack of respect is an epidemic in our society
  • Respect goes beyond admiration you need to put it into practice

Practical Advice for Teaching and Requiring Our Children to Respect Other People

  • Talk the talk
  • Walk the walk
  • Speak respect
  • Train children intentionally about respect
  • Respect others as you would have others respect you – be the example
  • Don’t give up
  • Respect is an attitude first
  • Respect helps children succeed in life

If children don’t have respect for themselves, peers, or authority, it’s almost impossible for them to succeed.

Q is for Quiche and Quirky.

Quiche (/ˈkʃ/ KEESH) is a savory, open-faced pastry crust dish with a filling of savory custard with cheese, meat, fish or vegetables.  Quiche has a pastry crust and a filling of eggs and milk or cream which, when baked, become a custard.

Now don’t get to excited Quiche is not just for women.  It is not a sexist dish. Quiche is a quirky type dish that has lots of charm and nutrition.

That’s an unusual trait: Quirky. Characterized by peculiar or unexpected traits: “quirky charm”.

We can’t be perfect although we strive to be our best self. However what makes a person SO interesting is the quirky characteristic.

Quirkiness definitely first and foremost has these 6 qualities:

  • Curiosity about world
  • Find positive in things
  • Fully engaged in the moment
  • Gracious
  • Passion for LIfe

These 6 above then kick starts into the following:

Believe me it takes no strength to be a hater – real strength is pushing beyond your past, present, the flaws, and letting stuff go and embrace the positive more important virtues. In spite of all the virtues we should strive for, you don’t have to be a cookie cutter  person you can have your own quirky ways to display love, kindness and optimism.

To be quirky means a more original, to think out of the box some would say a little off the wall. Now don’t go overboard and become so freakish people will run when you walk down the street.

I think quirky means a uniqueness.  Be unique in representing the creator. Be unique in the way you love. Be unique in your creativity.  Be unique in a way you make your imprint on this planet.

It’s the humor and tenderness combined.  It’s the sensitivity and stalwart combined.

A truly quirky person does not, I repeat does not have to fall in line with current commercials and advertisements and society’s expectation of what is beautiful in body image, size or color schemes.  Not focused on mass media and trends not changing to please everyone except the creator. To know yourself well. To follow true to excelling in vitreous living.

Of course quirkiness has to allow for individual daily ways of living or rituals, likes and dislikes.

M stands for Mushroom and Meekness!

Hmm mushrooms. Grown in most unusual way; usually mushrooms are grown in compost including straw and hay.

A mushroom is the fleshy, spore-bearing fruiting body of a fungus, typically produced above ground on soil or on its food source. Wikipedia

It is known that edible mushrooms are consumed by humans as comestibles for their nutritional value; Mushrooms have Niacin, riboflavin, vitamin D, potassium, selenium to name a few.
They are occasionally consumed for their supposed medicinal value.

The Humble Mushroom is waiting in the shadows to be picked. The meek and mild mushroom waiting for our table but don’t be fooled there are poisonous mushrooms out there so be careful.

We can be valuable and sought for like edible mushrooms or we can be toxic like poisonous mushrooms.

We choose who we want to be. Yes there are circumstance in our lives that would drive faith away, drive away love or un-nurtured love, bitterness, anger, fear, confusion; the list is endless. In acute situations it could involve counselling. However there comes a time we Must face the demons and seek after that which is good. Like Meekness.

Meekness is not exactly a sought after attribute nonetheless an important one.

How would you describe Meekness?

• Humble, patient, kind, gentle even under provocation from others
• Don’t repay evil for evil
• Person of good conversation, live a good life, good deeds done in humility without fanfare.
• Calm temper not easily provoked
 • Bridles anger -Anyone can get angry
• Linked to humility not prone to jealousy or envy
 • Goes against human pride and the ills of humanity of grabbing, greed, climb the ladder and knock the-other-person-off-the-rung-  if-you-can kinda a mindset
• So I’m told that meekness “literally means “strength under control
• Meekness is not weakness, but strength harnessed for service
 • Not wimpiness or spineless as some would suggest
• Doesn’t create collateral damage
• Not survival of the fittest by force
• Exercised in Compassion
• Concerned with the interests of others
• Gracious

What practical example can we give for meekness.  The kid who sits alone at the lunch table; join him.  I am sure you can think of others.

I is for Iced Tea and Integrity!

One advertisement of Iced Tea boasts that it is; An iced tea made with a progressive bottling process that extracts oxygen, the cause of food spoilage. What is Integrity?

Integrity is a concept of consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations, and outcomes. In ethics, integrity is regarded as the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one’s actions. Integrity can be regarded as the opposite of hypocrisy,[1] in that integrity regards internal consistency as a virtue, and suggests that parties holding apparently conflicting values should account for the discrepancy or alter their beliefs.

To be a person of integrity can on occasion be a tall order but necessary courage.

A person of integrity is validated by their words and deeds. Integrity is making your daily actions line up with your heart’s values.

In other words, what I say and what I do give evidence as to who I am.

Now that is significant because how I feel in my heart, I Must do, less I become closer to a weakling, a fake, a coward. Oh my that is huge.

Mark Twain said: “Speaking honestly is better. It takes a lot of stress out of our lives. If you tell the truth you don’t have to remember anything, but if you don’t tell the truth you have to remember what you said.”

If I have integrity then I have a guidance, a peace, a path. No need to worry. I will have a moral compass.

When tested a person of integrity will do what is right.

Since integrity begins in our heart.  For me; that means I must ask God to examine my heart to see if there be anything unbecoming a lady.

My encouragement; don’t cave in.  Even when all things are going wrong remain faithful.  Be a person of integrity.  Be blameless.  Don’t be persuaded by others to diminish your integrity.

“Everybody else is doing it?” This is one of the most lame rationalizations that we could use to justify our actions.

I care what the creator thinks of me.  I want to remain integral in all my dealings!

Again what does integrity look like? If you/I is a person of integrity it will reflect in every facet of our lives. How we act/react in our relationships; our business, our marriage, friendship, acquaintances, writing, words, sports, politics, sickness, spiritual life, thoughts, extra curricular or testing or turmoil.  Nothing goes untouched.

It is open and honest in all y/our dealings! WOW!

The horn shaped vegetable usually orange in color is the Carrot.

Love Carrots.

Carrots are a goldmine of nutrients including carotene. I love to take a fresh carrot from the garden, wash it and eat it raw. It’s a delicious treat. The sweetness of carrots allows the vegetable to be used in some fruit -like roles. Grated carrots are used in carrot cakes  [my favorite] and puddings.

‘Courtesy’ wow that’s a cool word. Courtesy is the excellence of manners or social conduct; polite behavior.
If you are gracious and courteous to strangers surely you are laying a wonderful character foundation..

Courtesy is a form of respect, and being considerate of people’s feelings, culture within reason, and values.
 • IF trying to help don’t overdue to the point of being pushy.
• Be aware of where you are; what is acceptable.
• Don’t leave someone with a soap pad in their mouth. You never know you might see them again.
• It’s nice to Be Nice.
• Don’t hog the conversation; ask questions about others in the room.
• A laugh, a handshake, a giggle is good so don’t panic.
• Don’t be anxious of etiquette & courtesies in greetings, conversation, eating but don’t be something you’re not. You don’t have to get weird.
• Hold a door. Help Clean Up. This has nothing to do with gender but kindness.
• Use of Thank you and You’re Welcome.
• Speaking softly.
• Waiting for a turn.
• Interrupting in a mannerly fashion.
• Letting someone pass.
• Giving someone your seat.
• Keeping appointments or calling to cancel.
• Pull your pants up.
• To be good at it you must practice.


We are in the midst of a super-efficient era, pressured business, a more direct-oriented society. The world is becoming demanding and rude. Unfortunately it has infiltrated business, church and home and affects human interaction.

We don’t have to be Courtesy Robots but I think it’s a good practice. Whether children are courteous or not, hug them.

Apples – I appreciate apples…many people cannot eat apples for various reasons.

‘Appreciate’ hmmm that’s a good word as well. An expression of gratitude. The act of cherishing a person beyond the material.

I think the more we appreciate the people in our lives and what we have even an apple will enhance our day. Personally the more I appreciate the more I realize I have. If I think about what I don’t have then I’m never satisfied.

Swing around there is so much that surrounds to appreciate from the stars to the ground underneath our feet.

Yes I know that each day can bring more than love, joy, happiness and peace; it can bring so many other things that are challenging.
Negativity feeds off more of negativity and I do not want to enhance negativity but the Positive vibes of appreciation.

Appreciation becomes contagious…love it.

There’s a time to weep & a time to laugh, a time to mourn & a time to dance, a time to scatter stones & a time to gather them, a time to embrace & a time to refrain, a time to search & a time to give up,  a time to keep & a time to throw away, a time to tear & a time to mend, a time to be silent & a time to speak, a time to love & a time to hate…YOU get the Picture.
 
 

Time to Appreciate. Appreciate your time as a gift from the creator.

And Yes we do have pity parties. Pity Party, get it done, hurry up, now step away and smell the coffee; Opps I mean the roses.

Never doubt the power of showing appreciation ‘Good Job’ in y/our lives and what personal benefit you/I will receive.

Appreciation is like a Sweet Crisp Apple;
