Day 19  of my recent 30 Day Thankfulness Challenge; I am thankful for Mary Brown’s Chicken and Taters & other Newfoundland Food Traditions.  😀

In a world where there is so much hungry and people living without; we often don’t want to talk about the foods we like.

At first I was going to continue in a more serious vein of Thanksgiving days but then I thought I have a relaxed and humorous side as well.

Our life isn’t all serious and I am grateful that I actually have food and can actually have the opportunity to have preferences.

Yes it is deep fried and probably drive vegans and vegetarians crazy and for that I am sorry but I must confess I love Mary Brown’s Chichen and especially the taters with gravy.

Day 17  of my recent 30 Day Thankfulness Challenge; I am thankful for Hope.  😀

I know what it is like to feel hopeless and what it is to feel hopeful.  I do realize that there are people who have no hope, feel hopeless and there are those who feel hopeful.

God never gave one person the ability to hope and another without an ability to hope.  It is the spiritual, God-factor that is missing in my view. When you accept the Creator as the central part of your life then you have a greater connection and a direct line to hope.

George Herbert said, He that lives in hope danceth without music. Well hope is the thing that helps us dance to the heavenly music.  It makes our spirit dance.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.  Hope and faith is like a chain interconnected.

This hope gives us a confidence in someone bigger than yourself.  That confidence in turn fills us with joy and peace.

Yes I have found myself at a very low point and circumstances are thrown at me like daggers. Circumstances in and of itself have been hopeless but when I realize and put God in that hopeless situation then things change.  I don’t always get what I want but the conclusion is always best.

May the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in God, SO THAT YOU MAY OVERFLOW WITH HOPE.

To explain my experience this HOPE that becomes resident within my life is like an anchor that I become attached to consistently so I have always a power at my disposal. That anchor is firm and secure.

I guess in humanities terminology I want to live my life so as to say thank you to God for this wonderful hope, eternal hope, encouraging hope. God in effect has rescued me and I believe in God. I truly believe.

I want to be more than a survivor as stated in my book “Feet First” and in my second book that is in the editing stages. I want to thrive and prosper despite everything that has hit me by surprise like a punch to the gut; enormous setback.

Day 17 hope

Pertinent Quotes:

Joel Osteen quote: “I declare I will not just survive; I will thrive! I will prosper despite every difficulty that may come my way.  I know every setback is a setup for a comeback.  I will not get stagnant, give up on my dreams or settle where I am.  I know one touch of God’s favor can change everything.  I’m ready for a year of blessings and a year of thriving!  THis is my declaration.”

“Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: You don’t give up.”  Anne Lamott

Hope is patiently waiting expectantly for the intangible to become reality. Avery D. Miller

Day 12 of my 30 Day Thankfulness Challenge; I am thankful for Water. 😀

I do appreciate the life giving qualities of water – H2O.
70 % of the earth is covered with water.

It may seem like a strange thing to be thankful for.  We here in Canada have water plenty.  WE take it for granted from rinsing of dishes before they are placed in the dishwasher to just stand in the shower pretending it’s a hot tub. Such plenty, we spray more water on flowers than some countries can provide for children.

On a normal day we do not have to worry about disease-ridden water.  We can drink as much as we desire.

Our children can go to a community pool and frolic in the water until there isn’t any dirt under their nails and their skin is wrinkled.

I love what can be done with water. It can be cold, boiled, steamed, or frozen.  It is pliable and nature can throw as much of it on you as it pleases.

Day 12 big-wave2 copy

I love the sound of water as it ripples in a stream pathway or waterfalls.  Outside of drinking water this is my favorite.  There are wealthy people today who have recorded the sounds of the movement of water and sold it as CD’s such as waterfalls, rain, ocean waves etc.

Pertinent Quotes:

A woman is like a tea bag – you can’t tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water. Eleanor Roosevelt

O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is.

“Cry. Forgive. Learn. Move on. Let your tears water the seeds of your future happiness.”  Steve Maraboli

Day 10 of my recent 30 Day Thankfulness Challenge; I am thankful for Music.

I am thankful for music
Electrical colorful current to the soul
To say it enhances life
Is the greatest understatement
Rest assured music
Had to be Birthed in heaven

It’s a mystery how musical notes
Born created and recorded in a studio
When it reaches my ears
The accompaniment is
An invisible heavenly chorus
What is it about music?
Power to ignite happiness
Soothe pierced and damaged heart
Pluck romantic strings
Feel Safe and Secure
Challenge status quo
Tickles creativity
Pulls back heaven’s curtain
While affirming
God is still there
What is it about music?
That enhances learning
Change our attitude
Kick start motivation
Makes us laugh
Reduce anxiety
Heightens healing
Build brain cells

Will someone turn up that there CD player now let’s enjoy some music 😀

Pertinent Quotes:

Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Psalm 95:1

The best, most beautiful, and most perfect way that we have of expressing a sweet concord of mind to each other is by music.

Jonathan Edwards

Day 7 of my previous 30 Day Thankfulness Challenge; I am thankful for my # 1 Son-in-Law.

Petite in stature but big in heart.  Travelled a dark road with my #1 daughter but am so very proud of his accomplishments during his spiritual metamorphic change.  Through the changes I see God working in his life.

Setting your path on a willingness to grow and learn and change are some of the most important qualities.  He is gaining them in abundance.

#1 son-in-law is an IT genius. He is also a genius in the studio and I am constantly amazed at his ability to work his magic and as a DJ in his free time.

Musical ability flows from his hands to the drums is sweet to watch. Imagine a drummer in the family. Actually he can also play guitar.  Music is a large part of his life and is now doing more work on his vocals.

I must say I am impressed to see him face physical maintenance problems and tries to learn how to fix things on a regular basis. If he keeps this up he is gonna be “Mr. Fix It”  As well is so helpful to # 1 daughter especially during her sickness. Together they work hard at avoiding food allergies.

He is extremely generous of his time to teach his little neices and nephews the ability to master iPad apps. #1 son-in-law loves xboxy type stuff.  #1 son-in-law is his name and electronics is his game.

Pertinent Quotes:

The true follower of Christ will not ask, “If I embrace this truth, what will it cost me?” Rather he will say, “This is truth. God help me to walk in it, let come what may!”  A. W. Tozer

Love is an unconditional commitment to an imperfect person. (Selwyn Hughes)

“God’s definition of what matters is pretty straightforward. He measures our lives by how we love.” Francis Chan

Spiritual growth depends on two things: first a willingness to live according to the Word of God; second, a willingness to take whatever consequences emerge as a result.  Sinclair B. Ferguson

Day 6 of my previous 30 Day Thankfulness Challenge; I am thankful to my #1 daughter-in-law…Well what can I say a fantastic wife and mother.

Nothing pleases a mother [me] more than to know her son [#1 Son] has God’s best for him. Nothing  pleases a mother [me] more than to know she is gonna  be a grandmother well “Nanny” is what I am called a “Newfie” endearing term for grandmother. They have blessed us with two grandbabies.

#1 daughter-in-law has such beautiful exceptional qualities again too many to list but she is the epitome of love, generosity and helpfulness. Creative, musical, intellectual in her own right and certainly fits into our family.

She usually has an answer for every question I ask of her.

While we do not have her won over for sci-fi and Disney cartoons she enjoys Christmas to the fullest and that makes everyone smile. WE all love Christmas.

Thus far I don’t think I am #1 daughter-in-laws worst nightmare. lol 😀

Pertinent quotes:

Psalm 8: 1
O LORD, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens!

What a mother sings to the cradle goes all the way down to the coffin. Henry Ward Beecher

Love is an unconditional commitment to an imperfect person. (Selwyn Hughes)

To end this little segment I say to #1 daughter-in-law “LIVE LONG AND PROSPER”

Thanks to all those who read my blog…Beverley

Day 5 of my previous 30 Days of Thankfulness Challenge.

I am thankful for #3 daughter  [baby of the family] well loved often called pooh bear.  Very petite in stature/physically but everything else is beautifully large.

She is a lot like her brother with many integral, athletic [volleyball & golf] qualities.  She often doesn’t show her inner self but I’m her mom and they are quite clear.

#3 daughter has unconditional love to all without prejudice. Has a strength that often people don’t see.

Genius for design and decoration. Talented and the greatest mommy. Works way too hard at her day job and indispensable I am sure to her boss.

Within her lay the power to be a leader and the greatest example and role model. God healed her as a baby and I have faith we will one day see all the reasons for such a magnificent miracle.

It is a high expectation but D.L. Moody said, Where one man reads the Bible, a hundred read you and me.

Her are some pertinent quotes:

Isaac Watts said; May I govern my passions with absolute sway, and grow wiser and better as life wears away.

“God’s definition of what matters is pretty straightforward. He measures our lives by how we love.” Francis Chan

Henry Ward Beecher quote: God pardons like a mother, who kisses the offense into everlasting forgiveness.

“Your talent is God’s gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God.” (Leo Buscaglia)

Day 4 of my recent  30 Days of Thankfulness.

I am thankful for Daughter #2 [twin to daughter #1] who has her first CD “For Your Glory”  and first single “Kindness” is available. She can play any musical instrument she decides she would like to play.

Thankfully she has overcome illness as unto death but is now an overcomer.

Excellent qualities too many to name; but she is dedicated in her beliefs and very focused in her direction.  She loves singing and playing all her instruments.  She loves to teach music to anyone who lends an ear. She does have a desire to sing for the rest of her life.

She still maintains a youthful heart of joy and excitement and loves dogs. What can I say all around good person who loves to brag that she is now a godmother to a special little girl.

Two pertinent quotes:

The psalmist said;  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Deana wrote a song “For your Glory” on her album that this beautiful verse certainly applies: You thought evil against me: but God turned it into good, that he might exalt me, as at present you see, and might save many people.

Day Two of my 30 Days of Thankfulness Challenge.

I am thankful for my firstborn, #1 son. I prayed for a son and God gave us the best possible son. WE knew within our hearts we would have a loving and respectful son. Sure, that he is!

#1 Son is an Intellectual, athletic, law abiding, integral son; A father of great value. What more could a mother and father and society wish for.

#1 Son Loves golf and basketball and volleyball. He can master anything he touches whether music, sports, theology, sciences, writing, speaking etc.  He excels in playing the drums, guitar and singing.

He loves star trek and all things sci-fi.

I actually want to laugh out loud here. I too love Star Trek! Do You?

He is a teacher in a high school and students tell me all the  time how much they like him. He is a smashing great teacher who has respect and compassion for all students and co-workers.

Thus far he’s not ashamed of his mother so that’s a big bonus.

I leave you with two pertinent quotes:

The foundation stones for a balanced success are honesty, character, integrity, faith, love and loyalty. Zig Ziglar
