Beautiful-Butterflies

Butterflies in my Tummy!

Butterflies are Graceful, Enchanting And free
They are the epitome that caterpillars never give up.

However today I would like to mention butterflies in a different way.

I’m sure having butterflies is a common occurrence.

Why do I get butterflies in my tummy?

Isn’t it amazing how our body is interconnected.

The stomach/digestive system in linked to a person’s thoughts and emotions.

Stomach butterflies are associated with [according to scientists] the body’s fight or flight response.  When the brain perceives a possible threat to our survival it sets the alarm.  Raising our heart rate, blood pressure and breathing. The hormones and adrenaline is released and we become a wicked mess.

Check out physiology today regarding fight or flight: http://psychology.about.com/od/findex/g/fight-or-flight-response.htm

I guess in a way butterflies are a sensitivity to fight or flight response.    While having butterflies in the tummy every now and again isn’t harmful but if it becomes an interference in our lives then it would be a good idea to seek help.

I still think it amazing that if we aren’t sensitive to our own thoughts, just plain nerves or even problems, crises and reactions; the butterflies will come out to play and cause a disturbance to make you listen.

Sometimes the butterflies are a hint that we are indeed alive and well.

So

Don’t ignore the butterfly

It’s the fluttering of the lone butterfly.
That quiet voice.
Softer then an ache.
Not as harsh as nawing
It’s just enough flutter
To cause to pause.

Did you have cause to pause
Today?
Did you stop?
See many blessings
Amidst the thorns?
Smell the flowers?
Aroma of a meal?
Chatter of family
And friends
The squirrel
In the back yard,

That quiet inner voice
That says fix it
On your end,
Make a move,
Lift someone up,
The quarrel you had
Make it right,
Apologize
Or
Stand your ground
In respect,
Times awastin
Don’t put off
What needs to be
Done – today,
Here nature chirping
Just a little louder
Don’t take the unresolved
To bed,
Don’t upset
The
Butterfly…..©

Behold the turtle. He makes progress only when he sticks his neck out .”-James. B. Conant

I think it is obvious – for a turtle to get anywhere he has to stick his neck out.

Sticking your neck out for someone is Not just an Emotion but a Concern that Leads us to action.

Just a thought but sticking your neck for someone could end in failure but don’t let that hinder you.

It is always appropriate to remember to be kinder than necessary, for everyone you know or meet is fighting some kind of battle.
In spite of our own disappointments we can experience faith and peace and be a powerful inspiration.
In times of anxiety may we learn to be tender and abound in love and compassion.

In life, there are times you have to stick your neck out and take a risk.
Sometimes it is to help family.

Sometimes it is to help a friend.

Sometimes it is sticking up for a friend.
Sometimes it is to take courage.

Sometimes it is sticking your neck out for your beliefs.
Sometimes it is to move in faith.

Sometimes it is believing in yourself.

Sometimes it is protecting your marriage.

Sometimes it is a determination to take some risks to achieve our goals.

In the end it is listening to our deepest gut feelings, faith and trust.

Sometimes it is less difficult to stick our neck out as opposed to our Response to someone who would stick their neck out for us?

There are occasions when someone would stick their neck out in the form of an intervention, a heart-to-heart regarding choices, health issues, support, encouragement, to be there in your time of need, just being there or a thousand other scenarios.

It is wonderful to know that someone would care for you/I and indeed stick their neck out for us. [I’m not talking about a nosey individual but a genuine caring person]

We should challenge ourselves on a regular basis. So let’s not be so wrapped up in ourself that we don’t have or see a sense of anyone else.

Today I challenge you: Let each of you look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

turtles

Having said that I will end with a comparison on sticking our neck out for ourselves; qualities of strength and balance. So here are some highlights of a turtle.

  • Turtles have slow metabolisms, teaching us to slow down.
  • Turtles are said to be stable, and constant in their opinions, ideals, and ideas.
  • Turtles are dependable and loyal.
  • Turtles are home anywhere because they carry their houses on their backs.
  • Turtles have good eyesight, reminding us not to judge any of our relations by outward appearances.

Taking risks and chances!

Living life
to the fullest doesn’t mean without regulations, boundaries or some honorable do’s and don’ts.

Come and serve.

When you serve you’ll discover that you don’t have it so bad after all.

You were born

No matter the past

Or circumstance your birth

Irrelevant, then-come-what-may

Your responsibility is to live it.

“We have this moment today”, Gloria Gaither penned these words, “We have this moment to hold in our hands and to touch, as it slips through our fingers like sands.” If we only have one life, if there is only one opportunity, and if we are to live our lives to the fullest, “HOW DO WE GO ABOUT IT?”

What is the primary purpose of an ink pen? The answer, of course, is to write. If you have a $20.00 gold emblem engraved pen that is out of ink [like the one I have]. It may be pretty to look at, but it is a failure as a pen; it is not fulfilling its purpose. It is useless. So what will you do when the time comes to sign your paycheck that you desperately need come payday, and this pen doesn’t work? You’ll bypass the nice looking gold pen, and use a $.20 Bic that works.

Sounds Simple but just as a pen has a primary purpose, every individual that God has created has a primary purpose.

Our lives will be without meaning – we’ll be failures – unless we find out what is our purpose … our reason for living. Facing the present means that we choose to live life as it comes to us day by day. Not in the past, not in the future, but right here and right now.

Live Life Now!

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.

Be patient and you will finally win, for a soft tongue can break hard bones.

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

W is for Watermelon and Wisdom!

Watermelon; hmm; one of my favorite fruits of all time.

Watermelon is a vine-like flowering plant; Its fruit, which is also called watermelon, is a special kind referred to by botanists as a pepo, a berry which has a thick rind (exocarp) and fleshy center. Watermelon is thought to have originated in southern Africa, where it is found growing wild.

A good source of Potassium, and a very good source of Vitamin A and Vitamin C.

Watermelons

A cold slice of watermelon has long been a July holiday staple. But according to recent studies, the juicy fruit may be better suited for Valentine’s Day. That’s because scientists say watermelon has ingredients that deliver Viagra-like effects to the body’s blood vessels and may even increase libido.

Here is the website that discusses the above sentiment.

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/06/080630165707.htm

Watermelon is refreshing, and it’s vitamins and nutrition and its benefits within have a mysterious wisdom.

WhooHoo Wisdom.  What a wonderful word but difficult to master.

One of the most important ingredients to wisdom is the willingness to learn and willingness to share your wisdom.

How wonderful wisdom is! It sparks life into other virtues. If a person has wisdom he/she will also have prudence (sensibleness, good sense), knowledge, and discretion. Wisdom inhabits caution/discretion. Prudence is the ability to discriminate between truth and error.

Be Wise:

  • Decide what is valuable
  • What are the goals
  • Know what is right and important
  • Don’t make a decision that will harm anyone else
  • Take special attention to hard decisions
  • Remember your family and your responsibilities
  • Explore choices
  • What are the consequences
  • Evaluate
  • Know yourself; weakness and strengths
  • Take time to contemplate
  • Be humble and be there for others
  • Surround yourself with wise people
  • Will this decision bring honor to the creator, to humanity, to the community
  • Never Give Up
  • Be Wise Parents and teach children to accept responsibility and consequences to behaviour

Grandchildren are the crowning glory of the aged; parents are the pride of their children

Let’s face it, none of were perfect angels growing up. We all made mistakes, some big, some not so big. One thing I think we all need to guard against is letting our own shortcomings keep us from doing the right thing when it comes to raising our own children and caring for family; use wisdom.

“Learning how to be an approachable parent is one of the most important gifts we can give our children. Being approachable means being willing to talk about and deal with subjects that make us uncomfortable. . .without judging or lecturing. When our kids see that we don’t dodge difficult issues and that we are good listeners, they will come to us for help and guidance.”
Paula Statman, M.S.S.W., Founder and Author, KidWISE Institute, Inc.

Abraham Lincoln, the movie has been much talked about in these past weeks.  It is amazing to read of  the candor and wisdom and words of Lincoln.

In a speech made in 1863, Abraham Lincoln said, “We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of heaven; we have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity; we have grown in numbers, wealth, and power as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us, and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us.”

If you are a leader in any way shape or form; you are likened to the driver of the school bus.  You need love to lead and the knowledge to know the direction and under extreme circumstances wisdom to direct the path.

WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE

Wisdom is still ahead of knowledge even though knowledge is important. You can have knowledge much knowledge in fact but if you don’t have wisdom how can you use it or disperse it for the good of all.

WISDOM CALLS OUT

Does not wisdom cry out, And understanding lift up her voice? She takes her stand on the top of the high hill, Beside the way, where the paths meet. She cries out by the gates, at the entry of the city, At the entrance of the doors: “To you, O men, I call, And my voice is to the sons of men. O you simple ones, understand prudence, And you fools, be of an understanding heart. Listen, for I will speak of excellent things, And from the opening of my lips will come right things; For my mouth will speak truth; Wickedness is an abomination to my lips. All the words of my mouth are with righteousness; Nothing crooked or perverse is in them. They are all plain to him who understands, And right to those who find knowledge. Receive my instruction, and not silver, And knowledge rather than choice gold; For wisdom is better than rubies, And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her.  -Proverbs

TRUE WISDOM COMES FROM THE CREATOR; OUR GREATEST HELP!

A. W. Tozer and J. I. Packer have defined wisdom as follows:

“In the Holy Scripture’s wisdom, when used of God and good men, always carries a strong moral connotation. It is conceived as being pure, loving, and good.… Wisdom, among other things, is the ability to devise perfect ends and to achieve those ends by the most perfect means. It sees the end from the beginning, so there can be no need to guess or conjecture. Wisdom sees everything in focus, each in proper relation to all, and is thus able to work toward predestined goals with flawless precision.”1

“Wisdom is the power to see, and the inclination to choose, the best and highest goal, together with the surest means of attaining it. Wisdom is, in fact, the practical side of moral goodness. As such, it is found in its fulness only in God. He alone is naturally and entirely and invariably wise.”2

1A. W. Tozer, The Knowledge of the Holy (San Francisco: Harper and Row, Publishers, 1961), p. 66.

                        2J. I. Packer, Knowing God, p. 80

To have the truest wisdom/true wisdom you need knowledge.  But where do you get knowledge.  For me the first place I gain knowledge is from the creator. True wisdom affects our entire pattern of life: our attitudes, priorities and interests, and all our relationships, from family to business to authority. It is not a matter of knowing a lot of rules or how-to’s. Rather, wisdom is built on a foundation of understanding human nature, including its weaknesses (such as the tendency to conform), and it works with basic principles, such as trust, respect, and responsibility. We can learn these principles from for example the Proverbs. The wisdom of God is the highest education in the world. I understand there is a great debate whether there is a God or should we believe the Bible on and on; I am not interested in this debate here. What I want to say is that a loving God is available to lend a hand in our growth, wisdom and love.

Thoughts to Ponder!

“God’s definition of what matters is pretty straightforward.  He measures our lives by how we love.”
―    Francis Chan,    Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God

Eyes that look are common, eyes that see are rare.

Thanks for reading my bLoG!

A man named Paul; a very bright man said some very interesting words to ponder.

Go ahead dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you:

  • compassion
  • kindness
  • humility
  • quiet strength
  • discipline
  • even-tempered
  • content with second place
  • quick to forgive an offense
  • wear love

It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it. Isn’t that most descriptive and inviting and worthy to action.

*
Let the peace of God keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. And cultivate thankfulness. Let the words giving take the lead. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Creator thanking God every step of the way.
Let the peace of God rule… Peace on earth goodwill toward man!

My interpretation of 4 important words:
Peacekeeping – suggests dealing with conflict like many of our soldiers have been deployed to do.
Peacemaking – spiritual experience and daily requirement.

Thankful – acknowledge, expression.
Gratitude – deeper declaration, motivator and for me require God ‘s help.

A grateful heart should lead to peace. We are to be people of peace.

I believe God is able to help us in our humanity. Allow your grateful heart release peace in y/our daily lives.

The peace of God with understanding will guard your heart and mind.

It’s funny with the center and the core of who we are is at peace how we respond to turmoil and confusion from without. Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when the creator it displaces worry at the center of your life.

Christmas spirit is actually related to the birth of Christ born to exemplify and give peace.
Inward Christmas Peace is necessary to release to others.

The world and many individuals are facing loneliness and stormy days, traumatic events needing peace.    Needing calm.
We need peace but we also need to be so enriched with loving peace that we can give it away daily.

To aid in peace we have to have a more complete thought life. We already think about the things that hurt, negative. We need to add to our thoughts.

Eloquent Paul had more provoking, astonishing, timeless yet encouraging things to say. Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.

I think that people want peace so much that one of these days government had better get out of their way and let them have it. Dwight D. Eisenhower

God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing. C.S. Lewis
